Cláudio Finkelstein

Graduated in Law from the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo (PUC-SP) in 1989, Professor Cláudio Finkelstein holds an LL.M. in International Law from the University of Miami, where he wrote his thesis on the “Southern Common Market – MERCOSUR.” In 2000, he earned his Ph.D. from PUC-SP with a dissertation entitled “The Process of Forming Trade Blocs.” In 2011, he obtained his postdoctoral teaching credential (Livre-Docência) in International Law from PUC-SP with the thesis “Jus Cogens as a Paradigm of International Law Metaconstitutionalism.” He is currently pursuing postdoctoral research at Bucerius Law School in Hamburg, focusing on “Arbitration and Corruption.”

Professor Cláudio is the author of numerous works published in Brazil and abroad, including the books MERCOSUL – Lições do Período de Transitoriedade (co-authored with Celso R. Bastos), O Processo de Formação de Mercados de Bloco, Manual de Direito Internacional, and Jus Cogens e Metaconstitucionalismo. He has published a variety of articles on international law and arbitration and is regularly invited to speak at international academic events in countries such as Germany, Italy, the United States, France, Chile, Argentina, and Austria.

He is currently a professor at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels at PUC-SP, where he coordinates the PhD and Master’s Programs in International Economic Relations Law, as well as the COGEAE/SP Extension Course in Arbitration and the Study Group on Arbitration and International Trade. He also coordinates the International Contracts Course at the Instituto Internacional de Ciências Sociais (IICS/CEU Brasil) and heads the International Law Department at the Brazilian Institute of Constitutional Law. He serves as Vice President of the Brazilian Society of International Law (SBDI), is a member of the Ethics Council of the Paulista Football Federation, editor of the Revista de Direito Constitucional e Internacional (Constitutional and International Law Journal) published by RT, and a member of the Editorial Board of the CIFILE Journal of International Law.

In the field of arbitration, Cláudio serves as a lawyer, legal opinion expert, and arbitrator at some of the world’s leading arbitral institutions, including CAM-CCBC, ICC, the CIESP/FIESP Chamber of Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration, AMCHAM, and CAM B3. He is a member of the ICC Commission on Arbitration and ADR (Brazil and Global). In addition, he plays a vital role in training new generations of lawyers, coordinating study groups and both national and international academic competitions.

Maria Eugênia Finkelstein

Corporate Law, International Joint Ventures

She holds a PhD in Commercial Law from the University of São Paulo (USP) and also holds a Master’s degree in Law from the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo (PUC-SP). She is currently a professor at the PUC-SP Law School and a visiting professor at prestigious international institutions such as the Instituto de Empresa in Madrid and the Universidad de Castilla La Mancha in Spain.

Throughout her career, Maria Eugênia has distinguished herself in the field of Commercial Law, significantly contributing to both the academic and practical development of this area in Brazil. Her research interests include publicly-held corporations, international joint ventures, e-commerce, and internet regulation. In addition to her academic activities, she is a founding partner of the law firm Finkelstein Advogados, located in São Paulo, where she manages and advises on major projects in the national and international legal arena.

Maria Eugênia is the author of numerous books and articles published in renowned legal journals, with her works serving as a key reference in the study of business law. She actively participates in master’s and doctoral examination committees, contributing to the education of new legal professionals.

Luciana

Luciana Palma de Godoi

Graduated from Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo (PUC-SP), where she is currently pursuing a Postgraduate Degree in Contract Law—one of the key practice areas of Finkelstein Advogados. In addition to this field, she works in other areas developed by the firm, with a focus on Corporate Law and Arbitration. She is also engaged in academic activities, having served for two years as a teaching assistant in the Corporate Law course at GVLaw, Fundação Getulio Vargas. Furthermore, she contributes to assisting clients of various nationalities, leveraging her proficiency in English and French.

Maria Isabel Montes

Lawyer, graduated in Law from the University of São Paulo (2019). Completed a summer course in International Arbitration at Leiden University in cooperation with the Permanent Court of Arbitration – PCA (2016). Master of Laws and a Certificate of Specialization in Business Law from UC Berkeley School of Law (2021). Arbitrator in a proceeding administered by the Cindes/Findes Mediation, Conciliation, and Arbitration Chamber (2024). Assistant Professor in the Arbitration course at PUC-SP’s Continuing Education Program (formerly COGEAE), coordinated by Professor Cláudio Finkelstein. Former member of the Center for Studies and Research in Arbitration (CEPArb-USP), contributing to the preparation of Digests of Decisions on Challenges to Arbitrators for CAMARB and the CIESP/FIESP Mediation, Conciliation, and Arbitration Chamber.

Fábio Tâmbara

Lawyer, holding a Law degree from PUC-SP (2023). Master's candidate in Business Law at PUC-SP. Assistant Professor in the Corporate Law course at PUC-SP’s Continuing Education Program (formerly COGEAE), coordinated by Professor Maria Eugênia Finkelstein.

Laura Brevilieri

Lawyer graduated from the University of São Paulo (2022), holding a double degree in Law from Université Jean Monnet St. Etienne and academic experience at the University of Porto. Currently pursuing a Postgraduate Degree in Contract Law at Fundação Getulio Vargas. During her undergraduate studies, she represented the USP team in the XI Brazilian Competition on Arbitration and Business Mediation (CAMARB, 2020), in which the team was the runner-up and received an award for one of the best memoranda in the competition. Additionally, she participated in the written phase of the 29th Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot and the 19th Vis East Moot (2021).
